Pro's Sign New Deal With Poker Rooms |
Over the past few weeks a couple of pro’s have signed new deals and moved to new poker rooms. We have had some requests from some of our users to clear up the big movers and shakers. So here we go!
We have decided to cover as we see it the 3 big moves of the last few weeks.
Vanessa Selbst.
Selbst is a 25 year old poker pro from Brooklyn New York. She has amassed near 1.7 million dollars in prize money and more importantly won a WSOP bracelet. She is a big name in online poker specialising in Heads up no-limit hold’em. She spends a large part of her time coaching poker online and it is not very surprising she is very good at it.
However poker is not her only talent in life. She is a student at Yale Law School and says she wants to go into civil law when she leaves uni. To poker fans like us it would be a great loss to see such a huge talent leave the game but here’s hoping she changes her mind.
Her poker journey started out like many of us, online and with a small amount of money. However unlike many of us she managed to turn $100 into $1000 in her first few ventures into the game. She lost the lot and began to study poker strategy and from there as the saying goes, is history.
She became a household name with her bracelet win at the 2008 WSOP $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha and banked a massive $228,000. She came close to her second bracelet in the World Championship Heads up no-limit hold’em but ended up coming third.
Her success as a top level player has been confirmed by her recent signing to PokerStars. There is no doubt it will be a lucrative deal for Vanessa but in her growing talents PokerStars have signed a great player who will go on to win many major tournaments.
David Williams
David Williams was arguably the most recognised player pro at Bodog but it has been announced he too is to be joining PokerStars. The move is not a huge surprise to the poker world, with rumours of him being unhappy with the level of bonus he was receiving from Bodog.
It will be a huge loss to Bodog with Williams recent success in the WPT World Series Classic which only served to boost his popularity and bank him 1.5 million dollars.
The 30 year old from Texas crashed into the poker world in 2004 WSOP when he came a close 2nd to the infamous Greg Raymer but still managed to earn a huge 3.5 million dollars.
Without doubt his greatest success to this date was his bracelet win in 2006 in the 7 card stud event. His new relationship with PokerStars is only going to aid him as a player and it is only a matter of time before he wins his next big event.
Shannon Elizabeth
Gorgeous TV star Shannon has signed to Carbon Poker and will represent the room online and at live tournaments around the world.
We all know Shannon Elizabeth for her role in a number of successful films including the epic American Pie and the comical Scary Movie. She has also had a successful modelling career, posing for a number of “lads” mags and magazines. However as a poker fan we all know she has established herself as a very credible player in the poker world.
She started out on the celebrity poker tour and has gone on to the WSOP with her biggest win in the NBC National Heads Up Championship where she came third and banked $150,000.
There is no doubt that she is an advertising dream for Carbon. She can talk the talk on the poker tables and do her stuff in front of the cameras. She is a great acquisition for Carbon and will go a long way to try and get them into the top ten poker sites by next year.
